I would highly recommend Chris without reservation to you!
Chris Stormont is an excellent chess instructor in every way. He is patient, knowledgeable and has a real gift for explaining the game to every age/skill level. At the time he was teaching my son in Second Grade, my 4 year old wanted to be included and Chris managed to help him learn and feel competent, in a room with boys 3 years his senior. I would highly recommend Chris without reservation to you and would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Chris Stormont has been running Chess groups for my son for 4 years  — initially at home with some typical classmates from Coral Gables Elementary – and now at Palmetto Elementary where he goes during the lunch break 3 times a week.  Chess has been a God send for my son because it allows him to engage with typical peers in an environment that has sufficient structure that he feels comfortable and can perform well.

In this age of video games, it is always a struggle to get our kids off the screens and doing something recreational that will benefit them  — and Chess certainly meets this criteria.  In my son’s case, I had hoped that his analytical brain would take to Chess and that he would want to play it in lieu of video games or other things.  While that has not happened, he does get a lot of pleasure in the game and really benefits from having chess taught in the school during lunch time – where he would typically sit alone.
